Once upon a time there was a "Redskins" operation which used "real people" with "real jobs" as intelligence agents.  Garrison's people are an updated version, for, as the Colonel insists, "it is easier to make an agent out of a real person than a real person out of an agent."  One of those persons is Dan O'Donovan, heir to a small department store chain, and his partner Pres Hooper who doesn't have a clue, but unwittingly gets involved every time.   The first time is during the mission in Spain, but not by chance.  It was part of the grand design of the brilliant, enigmatic Colonel Garrison.

THE FLAMENCO CONSPIRACY   In the first of the series, Dan is sent to Spain, and Pres goes along for "someone" convinced him that Spain is the land or romance.
THE SHAMROCK CONSPIRACY   In the second of the series, Pres flies to Ireland to console his sister, and Dan flies there sent by Garrison to find out what went so terribly wrong.
THE CONDOR CONSPIRACY   In the third of the series, Pres' crash in a Senator's plan in Peru gives Garrison an opening to put into motion a grand plan of his own to right the whole ship of state down there

Pres Hooper actually thought it was his idea to go along with his partner, Dan O'Donovan, on a business trip to Spain to straighten out their import merchandise.  Actually Dan is to find and "dissolve" an elusive terrorist organizer for whom, at long last, Colonel Garrison finally has a photograph and a lead, although as yet no real name.  "Glide in, glide out!"  Just another routine mission that goes very wrong within the first few hours.

When Pres Hooper flies off to Ireland to console his sister Marty Sue, Dan O'Donovan's control sends Dan along to finish what so unexpectedly went wrong. The reason it went wrong, says Dan's control, is because his theory was right and hit too close to the mark, in a word,  that hostilities in Northern Ireland continue to flare up because there are people deliberately fanning the flames. Dan is to finish the mission.

Pres Hooper was on a junket to Peru with a Senator when the plane crashed. To Dan's control this is a perfect opportunity to put into action his plan to topple both the corrupt government and replace the inept "puppet" that the US Embassy and the CIA have selected with a man he has found.  Now is the time for his man to start playing a role on a larger stage.  Meanwhile Mary Sue flies to Lima to find out what she can about her brother's fate. At first mission appears to be going very well.
