ITINERARY FOR TOUR B2 : INDIA, BARBADOS, IRELAND
INDIA
1) Memories of War and Love Arriving in Delhi, seeing some
of the temples, Humayun's Tomb, visiting the Red Fort, then north to Amritsar in the
land of the Punjabi, visiting the Golden Temple, shopping, watching Bhangra dances
and gatka martial arts, then from there east to Manali in the Himalayas, to sight-see
and ski.
2) Tigers and Traditions In Agra, visiting the Taj Mahal as well
as Agra's Red Fort and the ancient city of Fatehpur Sikri, then south to the tiger
preserves, first Bandhavgarh to explore from an elephant's back. A day excursion
to Khajuraho and then on to the large Kanha preserve to explore from a "gypsy."
3) Spice Airs and Sea Breezes Arriving in Kerala, in the city of
Kochi, sight-seeing, shopping, an excursion to Allepey for a day in a houseboat on
the backwaters, watching a kathakali dance performance, visiting a kalari to see
martial arts Kerala style, then to Munnar in the hills of tea and spice plantations, then
back up the coast to Goa and its beaches.
4) Dunes and Palaces In Mumbai, formerly Bombay,
to sight-see, then an all-day excursion to the stone carvings of the Ellora Caves
with a stop at the ancient fortress of Daulatabad before continuing
north to Jaisalmer to stay in a palace and take a camel safari across
the sand dunes. Then on to Jaipur to stay in another palace, ride
elephants up to see the fortress, see the Jantar Mantar, the City
Palace, shop, and enjoy the elegance of the Samode Palace's Maharajah Night.
BARBADOS
1) Sand and Surf Arrival at The Edgewater Inn on the east
coast, surfing of course where the surf's always up, sight-seeing in
Bridgetown, and watching the horse races at Garrison Savannah.
2) Truly Bajan Exploring inland to visit Flower Forest and
Orchid World, shopping for Bajan fashion designs and bathing suits, visiting the
Verandah Gallery to see the work of Bajan painters as well as finding the
surprising street art, then attending the historical musical "1627 And All That."
3) Ship and Shore An outing on a catamaran to explore the
underwater and swim with turtles, watching a game of a favorite Barbados sport,
cricket, a night cruise in the underwater submarine.
4) Crop-Over A visit to a parrot sanctuary, seeing some
historical sights, then a pirate party cruise with Tall Ships. The spectacular Crop-Over
parade by day, the Cohobblopot at night to choose the Crop-Over king and queen. $13.95 + S&H
IRELAND
1) Bells, Stars and Hurleys Arriving in Dublin, sight-seeing,
visiting Christ Church and its bell-changer tradition, taking the River Liffey tour with
Viking Splash, watching the ancient Celtic sport of hurling before heading north
to Bellingham Castle, now a hotel.
2) Cliffs, Crafts and Cottages An excursion to Newgrange and
the Visitor Center to tour the ancient astro-archaeological mounds and the Hill of Tara,
then north up through Belfast with its two contrasting looks, and on to the Tully B&B.
Sight-seeing in the area, the Giant's Causeway, the Carrick-a-Rede suspension
bridge, Dunluce castle, the famous Royal Portrush golf course, then a tour of the Ulster American Folk Park before driving west.
3)Glistening Galway Bay From Donegal and a visit to Aran knit
for sweaters, down through County Mayo to Buttermilk Lodge in Clifden near Galway
Bay, a cruise out on the bay on a "Galway hooker" sailing ship, a visit to the Connemara Marble quarry and shop, seeing a horse farm, horse races and a horse show where the highly prized Connemara is bred.
4)An Elegant Air of Eire South past the Cliffs of Moher, , visiting the great telescope at Birr Castle, passing by haunted Leap Castle, visiting artistic Farney Castle, staying at Carrigeen Castle, on to Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone,
sight-seeing in County Cork, the Rebel County, visiting the Dingle Peninsula, and
enjoying all Kinsale has to offer, from fine crystal to gourmet cuisine to the excellent
pub known as Cronin's.
